Bioenergetics
Towards a Body vibrating with Life!

"A person who doesn't breathe deeply reduces the life of his body.

If he doesn't move freely, he restricts the life of his body.

If he doesn't feel fully, he narrows the life of his body.

And if his self-expression is constricted, he limits the life of his body".

Alexander Lowen (1910-2008)

Any therapy in the Naturopathy Consultation is a process of connection with oneself in which the relationship with one's own body is essential.
The body is the seat of the experience of growth, pain and pleasure, sensations and emotions.
>> Bodywork includes manual procedures and special breathing and movement exercises, aimed at helping the person to make contact with their body tensions and release them through physical movements.
> The purpose of Bioenergetics is to recover balance and mobility, release emotions and restore pulsation and the ability to contact oneself and life.
> Bioenergetic Analysis is a therapeutic method developed
initially by Alexander Lowen and John Pierrakos, based on the work of Wilhelm Reich , (a disciple of Sigmund Freud) considered the father of Bioenergetics and Psychosomatics .
Lowen learnt from his therapist and teacher W.Reich psychoanalysis and his
Characteranalytic Vegetotherapy , a form of deep corporal psychotherapy, that involved emotions and physical manifestations, in the end, he developed the pioneering technique of taking into account the Human Being from a holistic and unitary point of view for his therapies.
With this, the body was integrated as a psychotherapeutic instrument.
Observing his patients, Reich delved into the origin of human suffering and proposed actions to cure and prevent it.
“On the one hand we have allowed ourselves to be carried away by the rational, by the intellectual; on the other, the desire for power and domination have led to the desire to eradicate spontaneity and the primary impulses of freedom and pleasure in creatures.
Every time someone reaches  to grasp onto life, something gets in the way: the solid wall erected by a cold, authoritarian and repressive society.
Each frustration is stored like a scar and, little by little, the wall is internalized”.
> Reich called Armor that inner psycho-emotional wall anchored in the physical part, in our muscles, which prevents the flow of vital energy, blocks contact with the outside and with our Being.
A wall to protect us from frustration, and that keeps us fearful of our sensations and perpetuates a rigid and anti-vital society.
> Reich divided the Armor into seven segments,
each of them related to emotions and disorders:
Eyes, Mouth, Neck, Chest, Diaphragm, Abdomen and Pelvis.
> The primary function of this defensive organization is to
protect us from a conflict between our basic affective needs and the response of our environment. This causes a restriction of the natural flows of energy, nerve impulses, etc. that implies the increase of the musculature, structural thickening, less mobility, weakness in the tissues or extra subcutaneous fat.
During my experience as a Naturopath, in the years with my clients, I learned that Armors, similarly to diseases, are a "compromise" that we "have chosen" in order to survive the blows of life.
For this reason I insist on being very careful in the treatments, in full respect of the times and the forms that each one needs to free themselves from their Armor,
get to have a body vibrating of Life and thus achieve their Authentic Wellbeing.
